I started this journal in November of 2014. I was a freshman in high school and very, very desperate to do some nitty gritty soul searching and shape a new life for myself. Just about three weeks ago I finally completed the last page of my journal.
It's honestly the craziest thing I've ever seen. There are pages of self-reflection, art, quotes and everything in between. Its a really cool look at how much I've changed since I first started it, and its something I'm sure I'll treasure for the rest of my life. So here are some of the highlights, going in chronological order.
So the plants on the left were the two that I cultivated in my room over the summer. The cacti, I will note, were bought at the dollar store in this desert seed kit and my mom said they would never grow, but ha! They did. The page on the right was inspired by calmdownmorrissey on tumblr who writes a monthly motivation.
On the left is my attempt at motivating myself to throw a toss for color guard that I just couldn't do. Also if you look closely you'll see that I spelled dream wrong and had to tape a piece of paper over where the A should have been. On the right is a shameless promo for my tumblr that now goes by a different name.
Every time I finish writing either a script or a book I write about how proud I am of myself in my journal, since for a very long time I was never able to finish any writing that I started. This particular book is called "The Honey Rover" and I think it is very good. The other page is a quote from the Studio Ghibli movie, The Wind Rises, which everyone should watch.
As I said before, I highly recommend that everyone get a journal and just run wild with it. Don't limit yourself to something. Let your journal be a space where you can truly and completely be free to create without boundaries or expectations. Happy journaling!
