The height of Carrot's and I One Direction obsession is marked by fan fiction. Carrot took her hand in writing some (honestly she needs to post some of her greatest works because they were the only reason I lived) while I read more fanfic than one ever should.
The one fanfic that really took over my life, and many others, was the After trilogy. I was there for all the updates and spin-off books, and when it seemed that my 1D fanfic addiction had subsided, I spotted the book in Target. Having a fanifc published was groundbreaking and revolutionary, and I'm surprised it didn't make national news.
This was a very long intro to just tell you that today I'll be talking about a Harry Styles fanfic that got published.
This fanfic is pretty standard in regards to the One Direction fanfic. You take one member of the band (in this case Harry Styles) who is a bad boy and you take one innocent and unknowingly pretty girl (Tessa) and they fall in love, in a way. So that's pretty much the plot, and the details are very simple. They go to the same college. Harry is covered in tattoos and drinks while Tessa is a good girl and they meet and have a messy start of their relationship and it just kind of stays messy while they stay together. There are so many notable parts to this book but all you need to know is that Harry smells and tastes like mint and that Tessa always sleeps in his shirts.
This book has it's fair share of dramas, because every good fanfic has drama, but the end of this book leaves you on a cliffhanger. It is so insanely wild and it left me questioning so much of life in general. I never saw the ending coming like that, but it happened. The most wild part of this entire thing happened one night after I had binge-read the book and Carrot came over for a sleepover. It was pretty routine that we would read fanfic together, what friends don't bond over smut and romance? Anyways, there we were just reading it out loud, and maybe 10 chapters into the book Carrot predicted the ending. Now, if you've read this book you know just how crazy it is that she predicted the book. I'll never forget that moment, that was the moment that I knew Carrot had great literary powers within her.
The entire point of this post was a simple message: fanfic is writing. After got published and so you can achieve anything you can dream of. Don't doubt yourself and there is no such thing as reading too much fanfic. Dream. Inspire. Achieve. I believe in you.
This post was a major throwback for me to write and it's crazy to think I was obsessed with this fanfic almost 4 years ago. Wow, I'm old.
