These books aren't necessarily about summer, but they do embody the feeling of pure, childish joy that comes with the season.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Its a gay, beautiful, intimate look at youth and growing up, and mostly takes place in the summer, and really romanticizes the season as a time when anything is possible and everything is beautiful.
I talk about this book all the time because its my fav and also I read it at the start of every school year, during the time when summer is beginning to slip away, and it just captures pure joy and bliss and hope for the future and the freedom to be yourself.
Love, Ruby Lavender
I loved this book as a kid because its sad but also heartwarming in the way childhood books are, and it gives those warm, sunny vibes.
The Night Circus
Magic, love, mystery, suspense. Such a good summer read because it is so fun and exciting, a nice escape if you're ever bored of doing nothing.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer, and aren't too bummed about it ending. I hope you've set some goals for the new school year if that's where you're going, and if you're out of school I hope the transition of the seasons is exciting and filled with purpose as well. Fall is coming, and I am such a fall whore, I can't wait to wear sweaters.
