February marks a big anniversary for me and myself, this is my five year anniversary of being a vegetarian! This post is not about converting everyone to the vegetarian life but rather to talk about my journey and maybe inspire some people out there.
Why did you become vegetarian?
This one always stumps me, the day I become vegetarian is kinda random. That day I had chicken nuggets for lunch, tofu for dinner and then I decided to stop eating meat. I was always a picky meat eater and meat always freaked me out so I decided to try this whole thing out. Since then, I've done my research and I'm vegetarian for so many reasons. The treatment of animals, environmental impact, sustainability, and the meat industry. I'd recommend doing research about what you eat and put in your bodies, meat or not!
How do you not eat meat?
When people ask me this question I usually just smile and laugh awkwardly in attempts to be polite. But in all honestly, the smell of meat sometimes makes me feel all queasy and like I'm going to vomit. I don't eat meat because it grosses me out, in the nicest way possible.
Do you miss meat?
No, I don't miss it. There are so many meat alternatives out there that I never feel like I'm 'missing out'. I can still eat burgers, chicken wings, ribs, hot dogs, corn dogs, ground beef, and so much more. Becoming vegetarian isn't about depriving yourself, it's just about finding cleaner alternatives to foods.
I can't think of many other things to talk about because to me this is a pretty normal thing to me, so drop any questions you have down below. Also, let me know if you guys would like to see some easy vegetarian recipes, meal ideas, or any other vegetarian-related posts.
