I try my hardest to not be the girl who is constantly mentioning my boyfriend and creating content about my boyfriend, mainly because I don't want my identity to completely surrounded around my boyfriend. Now I could easily write a 10 page post about my boyfriend and my love for him, but I want to share more with you guys than just my love life.
I have created a few posts here and there featuring my boyfriend, so some of you guys might already know that he exists. I have been dating my boyfriend for over 2 years! We started dating our senior year of high school and are currently in a long distance relationship.
I by no mean am an expert on relationships, but I just wanted to share my experience about being in a long distance relationship during the infamous cuffing season.
Cue the sappy music, romantic movie montages, and get ready for maximum angst.
While new couples are falling in love at pumpkin patches and long-term couples are drinking hot chocolate, my boyfriend and I are watching a movie over Discord. Missing out on all the couplely fall things can sometimes suck, and I won't lie about that. We can't carve pumpkins, wear matching Halloween costumes, drink apple cider, eat soup, or watch scary movies together.
But one thing I can count on is sharing music playlists that remind us of each other, ordering food to each other, late night phone calls where he listens to me complain about anything, and care packages. And when things get too sad or ansgty, I can always count on him telling me that things will work out and that one day we won't be so far away from each other.
At the end of the day, I miss my boyfriend on more levels than I can count, but I can't think of a better person to be with. I'm a hopeless romantic, and with my boyfriend everything feels like it's straight from my own romance movie, a realistic and beautiful romantic movie.
Cuffing season can be hard when your significant other is across the country; there's no way around it. But what you can do is still share special moments with each other and have your own versions of dates, send each other love letters, and video chat for hours.
Am I jealous of couples during cuffing season? Yes.
Do I wish I was with him? Yes.
Do I love my boyfriend more than the distance? Truly and completely, yes.
I was going to add Pinterest quotes about long distance but that was just too much for one post.
Also, today is his birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUTIE!
