Helloooo everyone! I am currently writing this at 12:38 at night because I had to finish up homework for summer school, and tomorrow I am getting up at 8 to go and babysit! But I can't complain, because while stress is never any fun, I am performing oddly while despite being under a lot of it. Maybe its a sign that I was meant to be busy, because for these past two weeks its felt like life was coming at me nonstop. I started a job as a nanny for families in my town, and was asked to pick up a lot of extra shifts to cover for other people who were busy, and on top of that all my summer school classes started a few days ago, and since they're packing a semester's worth of material into a month, these classes are extremely high paced. But I'm doing good, in fact maybe I even like waking up and doing homework and then going to work and coming back and working and then watching Sex and the City until I fall asleep.
This summer is one of working hard, particularly grinding and hustling but I didn't think that made as good of a title. We're kicking things into high gear over here on the blog. (Check out our Depop if you haven't already, and tell us you're from the blog and you'll get a discount on whatever you buy. And also please PLEASE sign up for the newsletter, I want to make amazing email content to send out to you guys, the first one is all about saving planet earth.) I also decided to take up a new writing project, this time dabbling into the mystery genre. I am also very devoted to making LOTS OF MONEY and not spending all of it on vintage Life Is Good tshirts and expensive platform sandals. And of course, summer school.
This month our posts are going to be centered on the thing both Little Egg and I are going through right now, which is online summer classes. Check out the adorable glitter banner on the homepage if you haven't already, I'm really proud of how cute it looks. Even if you aren't taking summer classes, still follow along because the study tips we're sharing will be valuable year round for anyone who's in school, or undertaking any type of learning endeavor. For me, only one of my summer classes actually counts towards my degree, the other two are purely for fun, which may sound bizarre to some. What can I say? I love to learn, and the best advice my brother, who recently graduated from college and who turned out to always be right about everything, gave to me was, 'Don't be afraid to try something that sounds interesting to you.' In college there are SO MANY classes available, and I am extremely grateful for the amazing scholarship my school gave me where they pay for my tuition, so essentially all those random classes I take because I'm curious are paid for. But learning of course doesn't only take place on college campuses. YouTube holds a suprising wealth of knowledge, and if there's something you want to learn I guarantee there is a free internet article or diagram on Pinterest to teach you how to do it. This summer I want to learn a different style of dance called house dancing, mostly so I can look cool at parties, but also because it looks insanely fun. I'll be watching plenty of YouTube tutorials to aid that process.
Learning will take you places. There was a quote I once read that said, "A little bit of learning is dangerous," and its true in an odd sort of way. A little bit of learning will open your mind up to so many new things, places and ideas that you may never have even dreamed of! And certainly, for people who want to keep you down and see you fail, that little bit of learning is dangerous indeed. So head back to school with us, and take up knitting, painting, dancing, or whatever you're interested in, subscribe to a psychology newsletter, or listen to True Crime podcasts, ANYTHING that will increase your wealth of knowledge this summer. Don't live a life you'll regret, take those chances to do something wonderful, and buckle up for our Summer School Survival Guide.
