Today I discovered that I am in love with the way I look in long sleeved men's polos. The kind of shirts you could only ever find at a thrift store. So today, after strutting around all day in my newfound favorite t-shirt, I headed to the arc to buy as many as I could find.
The thrift store is always an exciting place to go, especially when you find yourself divinely inspired to change up your wardrobe either with a new statement piece or four new t-shirts you totally didn't need, but at the same time yes you totally did. It an easy way to experiment and try new things, but also not kill the environment or go completely broke.
My favorite thing about these shirts is the way they fit. Since these are all men's mediums they're not too tight, and I'm also not swimming in them. Plus, they were easy to tuck into my jeans, which I do with every shirt I own, and typically men's shirts are way too long to be able to do that comfortably.
The whole feel of the look can be easily changed just by buttoning the shirt up. You can go from sleazy girl from the 90s to preppy, yet still down to party, girl from the early 2000s. Its a minor change that makes a big difference.
My challenge for all of you reading this: Find a style of shirt and go to your local thrift store and buy as many shirts as possible that match your mental image. Maybe its those t-shirts with really high necklines, or vertical stripes, or dainty, button-down cardigans, or the cheesy t-shirts you can find in a tourist shop. Whatever it is, choose something that inspires you, and makes you feel confident and excited, and grab as many as you can.
