A couple months ago I got a cheap perm from my friend in beauty school, and I absolutely love it. It is hands down one of best decisions I've ever made in my life. I've always had curly hair, but it was definitely lackluster and would loose its curl after one day. I'm very pleased with my perm because every day, no matter what, my hair is curly, and its the best thing ever.
After I got my perm I went to visit my grandma, and my hair was really gross and not very nice looking. I wasn't using any special products on it, and I was showering at night. Through trial and error I discovered that it was best to shower in the morning so my hair could dry properly. I also picked up some styling cream, and an ultra hydrating mask that I can put on in the shower. Hair oils haven't worked super well for me, I much prefer the creams, since they work well to tame frizz and really moisturize your hair.
If you're thinking of getting a perm, I recommend it. It doesn't smell that bad, and isn't as damaging as they used to be. I love my hair now, and I'm super glad I got a perm. Just be sure to pick up some products, you can find them at Walmart for a really cheap price. My favorites are the Shea Moisturizer Curl Cream, the Garnier Fructis Nourishing Hair Mask, and the Living Proof Nourishing Styling Cream (which is a bit more expensive). Getting a good shampoo and conditioner is also VERY IMPORTANT. I haven't found one that I like yet, but anything with coconut in it is probably your best bet.
What are some of your favorite hair products to tame frizz and nourish dry hair? Also if you have a favorite shampoo let me know, I need a new one.
