There is power in these times. There's power in friendship, zoom calls, Tik Tok trends, elaborate quarantine makeup, daily walks around the neighborhood, the silence of an empty house, a quiet sunset, a coffee by yourself. We may feel lonely at times, as we finish up school and welcome summer during a time that is complicated and, well, isolating. But there is power there, we have to see it. There is hope, and strength. There is goodness in all of this. The flowers are still blooming, the sky is still blue, the clouds are beautiful as they float past. But beyond that, being inside has made us all a little weird.
Maybe you've started obsessively baking bread, thats weird. Maybe you do goofy things on zoom, or have started making Tik Toks, or finally buckled down and started that niche instagram page you've always wanted to. These things are all weird. Wearing jeans right now is weird, so is embracing sweatpants culture and lounging in your silk pajamas all day long. Have you shaved your head? Dyed your hair? Gone too long without a haircut? All weird. Little Egg and I kicked off this new month by dressing as Emilia Fart and taking pictures in a storm drain. Very weird. And it'll only get weirder.
This month we're embracing the odd, the strange, the abnormal. Because things aren't normal right now, and that's okay, in fact its great. There's power in that, in being strange and embracing that strangeness. Its the essence of flower power, the odd, yet beautiful, mystery of nature and life.
